Who
is the RTID?
Governor
Locke signed the "Regionalism Bill" (ESSSB
6140)
into law in March 2002. This
bill provides the citizens of King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties an opportunity
to make direct investments in the region's transportation system.
The
"Regionalism Bill" did not create a new layer of government.
The
bill provides a tool for the region to choose transportation investments utilizing your elected county representatives and existing local,
county, and state transportation agencies.
The 2003 State Legislature
enacted some changes to the original RTID enabling legislations.
Planning
Committee
The
group that will place an investment plan before voters is
the 22-member Planning Committee. It is composed of all 21 County Council members
from King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties and the Secretary of
Transportation (a non-voting member), serving as the Chair. For
